Trisha Hoban

Trisha’s love of sewing started at an early age. She comes from a legacy of maker’s in her family with her mother and both of her grandmothers providing her inspiration at an early age

“I live in Corolla which is a beautiful seaside town located on the Outer Banks of North Carolina.  I am selling my bags and accessories that I make in a local store called The Corolla Village Market.” - And we are jealous that she has this beautiful backdrop to draw inspiration from.

With her grandmother’s encouragement (and their remnants!) she began sewing her own clothes at the age of 10. She would save her allowance to purchase fabric.. It was at this early age that she also started making purses from her own patterns.

“When I was 12, I bought my own Kenmore sewing machine. It was the best machine!  All of my time was spent sewing.  The funny thing is that this was the only sewing machine that I owned until I turned 60.  I decided to treat myself to a new sewing machine.

I bought a high end machine (Bernina 790 Plus). Wow,Wow,Wow!  I did not know what I was missing!  A whole new world opened for me.  The past two years have been so much fun. I am learning to use the capabilities of this machine.

We love Trisha’s use of our Buzzing Bees fabric from the Forget-Me-Not Collection. She has used both the Blue and Yellow colorways that are beautifully coordinating with the waxed canvas she has chosen in her bags.

Trisha’s love of the sewing arts also includes knitting and sewing

“I love to "draw with thread" stitching my impression of the ocean and sunrise onto fabric, I incorporate this into my bags and pillows. I love to explore different fabric textures and designs. The creative possibilities are endless.”

Trisha’s beautiful work is so inspiring and it is extremely gratifying to see our fabric being used and put out there in the world for other’s to enjoy! Please follow her on Instagram @trishasbeachhouse to see all her projects and the beauty of the Outer Banks of NC.

Please share your projects with us so that we can highlight your stories.

Thank you, Trisha! What an inspiration ❤
