Irene shared her quilt story of her version of the Valentine's Hearts, by Missouri Star Quilt Co.

I made it my very dear friend, we go back 41 years ago named Tracy Ann who has a heart of gold, always caring for others, and never forgets their special days throughout the years!

My beautiful friend had been passed the horrific effects of uncontrollable Diabetes through genetics in her family. Sadly to say, she had to lose a limb in order to save her life! This was devastating, not to mention life changing for her! She's always has done for others! When I decided to make her this quilt and she had seen it for the first time, she told me ..ironically, the "Ric Rac" that I applied as an accent, reminded her of her mother's quilt that had had similarity to her original and couldn't believe the likeness! I told her.."That's because.."your mother is always watching over her angel to protect you!" We ALL love you! She has such a beautiful spirit that she was so excited to receive this quilt and place her faith in God to go forward knowing we'd all be there to support her! She cherishes this quilt so very much! Makes my heart so very happy! She will always think of me, as well as the comfort of her "mother" surrounding her now as well...what more could you ask for. :)

This was a total surprise on my behalf to her for comfort, as I do this from the heart for those who are very special to me and to those who are in need! She not only had tears but, her sisters were with here in the rehab facility when they sent me a picture, since I am out of state now and she was all snuggled up with it and happy as ever!!
